The Heritage Chart

Possibly the most interesting development in Chart Music Radio, The Heritage Chart was conceived and introduced by Radio Legend Mike Read in 2020 when he realised that there was an ever increasing number of established chart stars still producing vibrant, exciting new music that mainstream National Radio was ignoring.

Of course being denied the avenues of airplay these artists found it impossible to make any headway in the National Charts that have become diluted by combining streaming, downloads and sales to create a confusing miasma. Mike had the revolutionary idea of taking the charts back to the people and set up The Heritage Chart, a vehicle were artists who have performed prior to the year 2000 can have their new music presented to a discerning & voting public audience.

Each week The Heritage Chart is compiled from the votes submitted via the www.heritagechart.co.uk website and presented by the king of the countdowns in a 2 hour Chart show.

A Radio Legend presenting fantastic new music from established artists in an easy to follow and recognisable chart format that’s voted for by its listeners.

Mike Read, with his distinctly recognisable rich voice is a true British broadcasting legend. He has won ten National Broadcaster of the Year Awards, an International Music award, and was awarded the coveted Gold Badge of Merit for his special contribution to Britain’s music industry.

A household name in Britain for over forty years having fronted three top-rated long-running BBC TV series, Top of the Pops, Pop Quiz & Saturday Superstore and three national radio breakfast shows, including Radio One and Classic FM.

He features regularly on the re-runs of Top of the Pops on BBC Four and has presented two Pop Quiz specials for the BBC in 2017, recorded two new episodes for 2020 and is currently filming the Heritage Chart TV Show to compliment his Heritage Chart Top 30 Countdown Radio Show.
